May 3 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 21 members and no guests. This was a business meeting and Limey Nargelenas went over items that the board discussed at their monthly meeting. Dale Diamond drew the winners for the Lions Calendar Raffle and the $100 winner was Mike Hope. It was announced that the Installation Dinner at Island Bay on June 7 will begin at 6:00 P.M. with a social hour followed by dinner at 7:00 P.M. Please contact Limey if you want to attend and cannot make a meeting. Larry Werline announced that the meal we cooked for The Ronald McDonald House was a big success. Limey announced that the Low Vision Fair is being held at Southside Christian Church on June 2 from 10:00-2:00. Jerry Curry announced we are looking for help registering children from 6 months to 6 years old for the free vision screening being held at the Abe Lincoln Hotel during the Lions Illinois State Convention at 2:00 May 21st. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Limey Nargelenas, Tom Gallagher, Joe Brockamp, Helen Hellner, Bill Maxey, Ed Cunningham, Ron Wenger, Bob Urbance, Dan Yuhas and Jerry Gardner. The 50/50 was won by Mike Fishel.
 
May 10 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 23 members and no guests.  President Limey Nargelenas announced that
scholarship chairman Hillary Lucke and her committee picked the two scholarship recipients this year. We received a thank you note from the Ronald McDonald House for cooking their meal on April 26th. Sight & Sound Chairman Larry Bunting announced that we sold 93 books for $930 and the club will receive $372. Limey announced that the nomination committee met on May 4th and the following people were nominated: President Larry Bunting, Vice President-Marne Fauser, 2nd Vice President-Craig Drone, SecretaryTom Gallagher, Treasurer-Joe Brockamp, Immediate Past President-Limey Nargelenas,
Directors 2 Years- Rita Werline, Bill Maxey & Jerry Gardner, Directors 1 Year- Ron Wenger, Bridget Moore & Mitch Murdock,
Membership Chair – Dr. Paul Anthony, Bulletin Editor – Ron Wenger, Lion Tamer Mike Fishel & Mitch Murdock & Tail Twister
Larry Werline. These nominees will be voted on at the May 24th meeting. Lion of Day was Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker Larry Golden. Larry is the founding member of the Illinois Innocence Project. The 50/50 was won by Mike Fishel.
 
May 17 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 21 members and no guests. President Limey Nargelenas thanked Helen Hellner for her donation to the Robert Maxey Memorial. It was announced that Dr. Swing will be interviewing Dan Yuhas on his radio show about the Lions Golf Outing. The club received a thank you note from Lions Club International for our $1,000 donation (Melvin Jones Award). The receipient will be announced at the Installation Dinner on June 7 at the Island Bay Yacht Club. Limey Nargelenas announced the winners of the Lions scholorships as Jenna Kokkat & Haley Limper. Larry Bunting passed around the sign-up sheet for working the gates at the Sangamon County Fair. Please call Larry to sign-up if you cannot make a meeting. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Dr. Paul Anthony and Craig Drone. Lion of the Day was John Hanlon who introduced our speaker Erica Seaton. Erica is a caseworker for Big Brother-Big Sister. Erica talked to us about her experiences with the organization and her littles. The 50/50 was won by Larry Werline.
 
May 24 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 18 members and no guests. President Limey Nargelenas welcomed back Lion David Milner. President Nargelenas announced the officers and directors nominated for next year. The club voted on the nominees that were slated and all were approved. Larry Bunting is still looking for members to sign up and work the gates at the Sangamon County Fair. Mike Fishel reported that there were 50 people at the hearing bus and 40 at the vision bus at the Senior Celebration. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined himself 8 times due to the fact that the club answered all his golf trivia questions. Lion of the Day was John Hanlon who introduced our speaker Jay Swenson. Jay is the assistant director for intramural & club sports at UIS. Jay talked about his job and what it entails. The 50/50 was won by Joe Brockamp.
 
May 31 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 21 members and two guests. The guests were Marne Fauser’s daughter Madison Doran and her friend Peyton Hoerner. It was announced that there isn’t a noon meeting June 7th or June 21st due to the officers and directors dinner and the golf outing. The Lion’s calendar raffle June winners were drawn and the winners will be announced. We are still looking for volunteers for the Sangamon County Fair. Please contact Larry Bunting if you can work. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Mitch Murdock, Dave Milner, Larry Bunting, Jim Grohne, Dan Yuhas, Bridget Moore and Ed Cunningham. Lion of the Day was John Hanlon who introduced our speaker Debbie Bandy. Debbie is the Director of Healthcare Policy and Advocacy for Johnson and Johnson Healthcare Systems. Debbie talked to us about healthcare reform and the need for it. The 50/50 was won by Jim Grohne.
