April 5 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 20 members and no guest. It was reported that Eversight f/k/a Illinois Eye Bank requested financial assistance from all the Lions clubs in Illinois to help pay for a new refrigerator and alarm system. The club chose not to help at this time. It was noted that sponsorships are continuing to come in for the golf outing. Membership Chairman Dr. Paul Anthony informed the club he has recruited Richard Hamilton as a new member. Larry Werline informed the club and recruited members to help him serve a meal at the Ronald McDonald House on April 26th. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Delmar Buske, Steve Frankenstein, Bridget Moore,  and Ed Cunningham. Dale Diamond drew the April winners of the calendar raffle. Julie Kuntzman was the $100 winner. There wasn’t a speaker today due to this being a business meeting. The 50/50 was won by Bill Maxey.
April 12 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 22 members and no guests. President Limey Nargelenas welcomed back Dave Moreland. It was announced that the Senior Celebration at the Orr Building will be May 18th from 9:00 to 2:00. We will be manning the vision and hearing bus during this time. Tail Twister Larry Werline was only given a few minutes to work his magic so he fined Limey. Lion of the Day was Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker Dr. Bryan Taylor. Bryan is a chiropractor and talked to us about how the body reacts and how nerves and muscles interact. The 50/50 was won by Mike Fishel.
April 19 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 23 members and no guests. Marne Fauser informed the club that her daughter has a broken ankle from school and we all wish her a speedy recovery. President Limey Nargelenas stated that he is asking for volunteers for the nominating committee for officers and directors for the coming year. Anyone interested should contact Limey. It was also announced that we will be looking at a late June date for the Installation Dinner at Island Bay Yacht Club. Jerry Curry brought the club a copy of the full page add in the Lion’s state convention booklet honoring Bob Maxey. Jerry also noted that the Lions are sponsoring a free vision screening at the state convention and need children 6 months to 6 years old. He is also looking for volunteers on May 20th from 2:30 to 5:30 to help with the registration for the screenings. Rachel Schroeder informed the club that the Illinois Council for the Blind is having a fundraiser at Pizza Hut on May 3rd. The Illinois Council for the Blind will get 10% of the total bill for people eating in or carry out for Pizza Hut on that day if they have one of the council’s flyers or get the code online. Craig Drone served as Tail Twister and fined Ron Wenger, Dan Yuhas, Jim Grohne, Larry Bunting, Dean Paisley, Dr. Paul Anthony and Bill Maxey. Lion of the Day was Craig Drone. He introduced our speaker Fred Puglia. Fred is the public relations guy for Springfield Van & Storage and also owner of Perfect Impressions. Fred talked to us about his boss’s efforts to get us radio time to advertise our club and the golf outing. He also talked to us about his career. The 50/50 was won by Bridget Moore.
April 26 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 20 members and no guests. President Limey Nargelenas informed the club that the Installation Dinner will be held June 7 at the Island Bay Yacht Club. Larry Bunting passed around a worker sign-up sheet for the Sangamon County Fair. Please contact Larry if you can work a shift or two and cannot make the weekly meetings. It was noted that we received two more sponsors for the golf outing and would like to see more foursomes and sponsors. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Dan Yuhas, Jerry Gardner, Craig Drone (nothing new), and Dave Moreland. Lion of the Day was Marne Fauser who introduced our speakers Colleen Stone and Shayne Squires. Colleen is the executive director of Habitat for Humanity. Colleen spoke to us about what Habitat for Humanity does and new ways of getting funding for their projects. Shayne who is the procurement manager of Habitat spoke to us about the Restore project and how donations of furniture, appliances and building materials help fund new homes for their clients. The 50/50 was won by Limey Nargelenas.
