February 2 – The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 19 members and no guest. Dan Yuhas informed the club that Joyce Parker has made a nice donation to the Lions scholarship fund. Dan also challenged every member to get two golfers or a hole sponsor for the Lions Golf Outing. Each member who gets two golfers or a hole sponsor will be put in a drawing for a very nice free dinner. Dan also announced that the golf outing sponsors are starting to filter in from our recent mailings. President Limey Nargelenas reviewed the minutes from the board meeting held last month. It was announced that the next board meeting will be held Friday February 26. It was also announced that the club will be installing all the new members on March 1 and District Governor Jim Strange will do the ceremony. The calendar raffle winners were drawn and Jim Auth was the $100 winner. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Delmar Buske, Dan Yuhas, Jerry Gardner, Ron Wenger and Dean Paisley. There wasn’t a scheduled speaker for today due to it being a business meeting. The 50/50 was won by Joe Brockamp.
February 9 – The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 20 members and two guests present.  The guests were Richard Hamilton and Jacob Parker from the Heartland Eye Bank. President Limey Nargelenas stated we received a chevron from the Illinois Lions Foundation for our sponsorship of the hearing bus. Golf Committee Chairman Dan Yuhas advised the club that Piper Glen’s foreclosure sale is March 8th but he expects Piper Glen to be open for our golf outing this year. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Helen Hellner, Ed Cunningham, Dr. Paul Anthony, Larry Bunting, Mitch Murdock, Mike Fishel, Tom Gallagher and even his wife Rita Werline. The speaker today was supposed to be Sheriff Wes Barr but security duties for President Obama took priority and he was unable to attend. The 50/50 was won by Steve Frankenstein.


February 16 The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 18 members and no guest. President Limey Nargelenas informed the club that we are looking into a possible fundraiser at Applebee’s Restaurant serving breakfast. Tail Twister Larry Werline was out of town and Ron Wenger served as Tail Twister. He fined Jerry Gardner, Mitch Murdock, Craig Drone, Dean Paisley, and Tom Gallagher. Lion of the Day was Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker Marty Canatser the Deputy Adjutant of the American Legion. Marty talked to us about the American Legion and what is does for the communities that have American Legions. He stated that Illinois has 806 American Legions in large and small towns. The 50/50 was won By Nick Appelbaum.
February 23 - The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 20 members and one guest. The guest was Richard Hamilton from Saving Sight. President Limey Nargelenas advised the club that the annual Lions state convention will be in Springfield this year. He also urged club members to find at least one hole sponsor for the annual golf outing in June. Larry Werline advised the club that we will be cooking another meal for the Ronald McDonald House on April 26th. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Ron Wenger, Dan Yuhas, Limey Nargelenas, and himself for incorrect information on a question. It was noted that Craig Drone wasn’t fined this week! Lion of the Day was Richard Hamilton who introduced our speakers Larry & Vivian Lefferts. They spoke to us about their experience with donating their son’s corneas due to his untimely death. The 50/50 was won by Dr. Paul Anthony.
