January 19 meeting – The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 26 members and one guest. The guest was Shane Squires from Habitat for Humanity Restore. Dale Diamond announced that the club has set a record with calendar sales with over 950 sold. The club would like to thank everyone for their efforts in selling these calendars. Marne Fauser reported that the Texas Roadhouse fundraiser earned the club $150.00. The club would like to thank Marne for her efforts and the members that participated. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Dr. Paul Anthony, Limey Nargelenas, Jerry Gardner and Larry Bunting. Lion of the Day was Dr. Paul Anthony who introduced our speaker Representative Sara Wojcicki. Sara is the representative for the 99th District in Illinois. Sara gave us a brief bio on herself and what she hopes to accomplish in the Illinois General Assembly. Sara was nice enough to allow the club to ask her several questions. The 50/50 was won by Dale Diamond.

 

January 26 meeting – The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 24 members and two guests present. The guest was Bob Cockrell from Bank of Springfield who is joining our club and former Springfield Noon Lion Ken Zender. Dale Diamond informed the club that we have sold a little over 950 calendars and the club will make $7,000 this year. President Limey Nargelenas informed the club that the Annual Community Shred Event will be April 23 from 10 to 12 at the Restore location on South 6th. John Albers informed the club that we are taking applications for our two scholarships and the application is on our website. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Dr. Paul Anthony, Delmar Buske, Jerry Gardner, Dale Diamond and new member Bob Cockrell. Lion of the Day was Dr. Paul Anthony who introduced our speaker Allen Grosboll. Allen is a former member and is the Co-Legislative Director and Senior Policy Advocate for the Environmental Law & Policy Center. Al spoke to us about alternative energy. The 50/50 was won by James Grohne.
