August 4 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 22 members and five guests present.  The guests were Dean Paisley’s grandsons Preston and Ty Paisley, Limey Nargelenas grandsons Gavin and Noah Martin, and Mark Otto from Landmark Ford.  Dr. Paul Anthony and Steve Frankenstein are co-chairmen for the Annual Steak Fry to be held October 6 at the Mozart Club.  If you are unable to attend a meeting and want to go to the steak fry, please contact them.  Jerry Curry stated he would be passing around a sign-up sheet for volunteer workers for the Star Party.  Bill Maxey who is the Candy Day chairman will be passing around a sign-up sheet for workers for Candy Day sales soon.  Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Dean Paisley (twice), Larry Bunting, John Albers, Mike Fishel, and Barry Schillinger.  The July calendar raffle winners were drawn and the big winner was Anne MacTague.  Lion of the Day was Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker Ryan Croke who is the Associate Chancellor for Public Affairs at UIS.  Ryan spoke to us about the University and all it offers our community.  The 50/50 was won by Gavin Martin.
 
August 11 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 23 members and 1 guest present.  The guest was Evelyn Thomas’s friend Linda Leinberger.  Welcome back Evelyn Thomas.  The club would like to send their condolences to Craig Drone’s family on the recent passing of his father.  It was reported that Sheila Murdock is recovering well from hip replacement surgery.  Nick Appelbaum reported that Mark Cullen broke his shoulder while golfing?  It was also reported that Dave Moreland was in the hospital again for another heart procedure.  Limey Nargelenas reported that Evelyn Thomas has been named Ambassador of Agriculture for the State of Illinois.  Larry Werline is working on a date that our Lion’s club can help prepare a meal for the Ronald McDonald House.  Tail Twister Larry Werline fined himself $5 for asking a question to the club that Bill Maxey answered.  Lion of the Day was John Hanlon who introduced our speaker Jeff Lorber who is the Vice Chancellor for the Department of Advancement for UIS.  He spoke to us about the university.  The 50/50 was won by Evelyn Thomas.
 
August 18 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 23 members and three guests present.  The guests were Mickey Monroe and Dean Paisley’s grandsons Preston and Ty and John Hanlon’s son Will. It was announced that the board meeting has been changed to August 26th at Hunan Restaurant.  Larry Werline announced that the Lion’s cooking committee will be preparing the meal for the Ronald McDonald House on September 16th and the Lion’s Club will have their normal Tuesday meeting at the Ronald McDonald House the evening of November 10.  Tail Twister Larry Werline was again fining himself plus Bill Maxey, Delmar Buske, Dr. David Milner, Mickey Monroe, and Ed Cunningham.  Lion of the Day was John Hanlon who introduced our speaker Dan Rourke who is the football and athletic director of Chatham High School.  Dan talked to us about his history of coaching and new challenges he faces in today’s environment.  The 50/50 was won by Limey Nargelenas.
 
August 25 Meeting
 The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 20 members and 1 guest present.  The guest was Delmar Buske’s brother-in-law Leroy Pruitt.  President Limey Nargelenas presented Larry Werline a membership recruitment award.  The Steak Fry’s date has been confirmed for October 6th and the cost will be $20 for members and $15 for guests.  There won’t be a noon meeting October 6th.  It was announced that Dan Yuhas will be forming a golf outing committee and he welcomes any volunteers.  We hope to make this a bigger and better event in 2016.  Steve Frankenstein announced that our district has finalized their consolidation with another district and we are District 1M as of July 1, 2015.  Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Steve Frankenstein, Marne Fauser, Helen Hellner and Joe Brockamp. Lion of the Day was John Hanlon who introduced our speaker Bill Walker who is the new UIS men’s basketball coach.  Bill gave us a history of his coaching career and talked about the upcoming season . The 50/50 was won by Ron Wenger.
