July 7, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 20 members and no guest present. Our newly elected President Limey Nargelenas presided over the meeting. It was reported that the Installation Dinner was a success with Dan Yuhas as Master of Ceremony. A big thank you to Dave Moreland for sponsoring us at the Island Bay Yacht Club. Marne Fauser has a sign-up sheet for procuring speakers that she would like people to volunteer for this year. Tom Gallagher passed out perfect attendance pins to 17 Lions for the past year. Dr. Paul Anthony and Steve Frankenstein volunteered to chair the Steak Fry this year. Steve Frankenstein volunteered to chair the committee to work on our 100th anniversary celebration in 2019. New Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Mark Cullen, Ron Wenger, Mike Fishel, and Tom Gallagher. There wasn’t a speaker for today’s meeting so we used it as a business meeting. It was discussed to put a calendar together for the whole year. The calendar raffle winners were drawn with Mickey McDaniel as the big $500 winner. The 50/50 was won by Dr. Paul Anthony.
July 14, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 24 members and 3 guests present. The guests were Jerry Curry’s children Tommy and Kathleen and Gary Sheets from the Astoria Lions Club. It was announced that this month’s directors meeting will be held on Wednesday the 29th at Hunan. President Limey Nargelenas announced that Helen Hellner made a nice donation to the club in the name of her husband Ed. The club would like to thank Helen for her generosity. Limey also announced that Dr. Paul Anthony has volunteered to be the membership chair again this year and Ron Wenger has volunteered to be bulletin editor. Jerry Curry announced that he was going to transfer his membership to the Pawnee Lions Club and become President. Jerry stated the Pawnee Lions Club was having trouble with membership and he hopes to get them back on the right path. Tail Twister Larry Werline fined Mitch Murdock, Mickey McDaniel, Jerry Curry, and Ron Wenger. Jerry Gardner was Lion of the Day and introduced our speaker Colleen Stone. Colleen is Director of Habitat for Humanity. She spoke to us about what Habitat does and how they are funded. The 50/50 was won by (Guess Who ???) Bob Maxey.
