April 7, 2015 Meeting
 

 

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 18 members and 4 guests present.  The guests were Kim Forman from the Lincoln Lions Club, Wayne Henson and Ted Henry friends of Larry Werline, and Mike Garcia a former Springfield Noon Lion.  Mike has decided to rejoin our club and we welcome him back.  President Walcher welcomed back Gail Day who has been wintering in Texas.  The calendar raffle winners were drawn and David Marquez was the $100 winner.  Tail Twister Jim Grohne was in rare form and fined Ron Wenger, Steve Frankenstein, Mike Fishel, Dan Yuhas, Mike Garcia, Paul Anthony, Mark Cullen, and Larry Werline.  Lion of the Day was Larry Werline who introduced our speaker Ted Henry.  Ted is in charge of the Lincoln Funeral Train Reenactment scheduled for May 1-3 this year.  Ted talked about what has gone into the planning of this event and what is scheduled to happen that weekend.  The 50/50 was won by Tom Gallagher.

  
April 14, 2015 Meeting 
 

 

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 18 members and no guest.  It was reported that Bill Hickerson (Dr. Swing) is recovering from a knee replacement and will be having the other knee replaced also.  We wish Bill a fast recovery and hope to see him back at the meetings. President Walcher informed the club that the next Directors meeting will be held at Hunan Restaurant on April 30th at noon.  President Walcher also announced to the club that morel mushrooms are now springing up.  Tail Twister Jim Grohne was remorseful in the fact that he fined almost everyone last week and decided to fine himself $20 instead of fellow Lions.  Lion of the Day was Larry Bunting who introduced our speaker Larry Bunting.  Larry talked to the club about the different types of life insurance.  The 50/50 was won by Craig Drone who was kind enough to donate it to Camp Lions.

 

 

April 21, 2015 meeting – The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 22 members and no guests present. President Chris Walcher presided over the meeting and welcomed back Bob Maxey. It was reported that we have a new member who is transferring from the Chicago Lions club. Larry Werline passed around a sign-up sheet for workers at the Sangamon County Fair. If you are unable to attend the meetings please contact Larry to get a spot reserved to work. There are about 100 shifts we need to work and need a lot of volunteers. Sight & Sound Chairman Limey Nargelenas stated he would like to have all the money collect and books returned by no later than April 30th. Tail Twister Jim Grohne was back to his old tricks and fined Dean Paisley, Mickey Monroe, Larry Werline, Mike Fishel and Limey Nargelenas. Lion of the Day was Larry Bunting who introduced our speaker Victoria Ringer who is the Executive Director of Downtown Springfield, Inc. Victoria talked to us about what her company does to promote business and development in downtown Springfield. The 50/50 was won by James Grohne.
