March 3, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 14 members and one guest.  The guest was Tommy Curry. Larry Werline announced that 19 people have signed up to help work the Sangamon County Fair.  A sign-up sheet will be passed around in a few weeks when we judge how much interest Athens Lions Club has in helping with the event.  Limey announced that Bill 232 is now in committee and should be coming up for a vote shortly.  This bill will allow “Lions” license plates to be made available.  The plates would cost $135 with $20 going to LIF.  The snow melt calendar was passed around for the final time.  Tailtwister Mark Cullen fined Steve Frankenstein, Limey Nargelenas, and Jerry Curry.  Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who was able to get Larry Werline to speak at the last moment. Larry spoke to us as General Grant about the spring of 1865 goals for both the North and the South.  The 50/50 was won by Tommy Curry.
 
March 10, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 22 members and no guests present.  Limey Nargelenas presided over the meeting due to the absence of President Walcher.  Limey stated that he would like all the sold Sight and Sound tickets back to him by April 1 if possible.  Steve Frankenstein and Chris Walcher will be asking the Athens Lions to help in manning the gates at the Sangamon County Fair.  Tail Twister Jim Grohne fined Craig Drone, Bob Urbance, Nick Appelbaum, and Dean Paisley.  Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who introduced himself as the speaker.  Jerry gave the club a quiz on the funeral business.  He was very informative about the funeral industry. The 50/50 was won by Limey Nargelenas.

March 17, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 24 members and no guest.  President Chris Walcher asked for a moment of silence for John Hanlon’s mother who recently passed.  We all send our condolences to John’s family.  It was announced that Steve Frankenstein received two awards at the annual IL convention and the club received an award for our bulletin.  Mitch Murdock announced that the Senior Celebration will be held at the State Fair Grounds in the Orr Building on May 28 from 9:00 to 2:00.  The Vision & Hearing Clinic buses will be there.  Tail Twister Mark Cullen fined Chris Walcher, Jerry Curry, Ed Cunningham, Paul Anthony, and Steve Frankenstein (EASY TARGET).  Nick Appelbaum announced that his first grandchild was born who is the grandchild of both Nick Appelbaum and Gary Rapaport.  Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who once again introduced himself as the speaker.  Jerry talked to us about the Mary Bryant Home which is dear to our heart. Jerry gave us a background on Mary Bryant and how the Mary Bryant Home came into existence. The 50/50 was won by Larry Bunting.
 
March 24, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 21 members and no guests present.  Steve Frankenstein and Chris Walcher are asking the Athens Lions Club to help us with the Sangamon County Fair gates. Membership Chair Dr. Paul Anthony offered a 20% discount to our speakers if they joined our club.  Golf Committee Chair Dan Yuhas will have pamphlets to hand out for our golf outing shortly.  Dan also stated that the snow melt at White Oaks Mall is almost complete and will he will announce the winner next week.  The Tail Twisters failed to show for the meeting and Jeer Curry fined himself for double booking the speakers.  Maria Matticks gracefully agreed to speak next week.  Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who introduced our speaker Phil Chiles.  Phil is the ambassador for Habitat for Humanity.  Phil spoke about Restore which is the resell store that is located at the old Furrows building.  He also stated Habitat for Humanity is building four houses this year and is looking for volunteers and donations. The 50/50 was won by Jerry Curry.
 
March 31, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 25 members and one guest. The guest was Ty Paisley who is the grandson of Dean Paisley and Mickey Monroe.  President Chris Walcher welcomed back Dave Moreland who wintered in Florida.  It was also announced that Mitch Murdock had shoulder surgery and we wish him a fast recovery.  Dan Yuhas announced that Dean Paisley won the snow melt raffle.  Tail Twister Mark Cullen fined himself $2 for being a no show last week.  He also announced that Bill Maxey won the measurable days of snow guess and Paul Anthony won the total number of inches of snow this year.  Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who introduced our speakers Maria & Rod Matticks.  Maria spoke to us about Twelve Baskets Full, Inc. This is a nonprofit that reclaims medical prescriptions from prisons and long term care facilities and distributes them to medical missions to third world countries.  The 50/50 was won by Barry Schillinger.
