February 3, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 24 members and no guest. Dale Diamond conducted the calendar raffle for February and Heather Murdock was the large winner. Larry Bunting informed the club that we have a new fundraiser this year to replace the bowling fundraiser. The new fundraiser is helping the Sangamon County Fair with the admissions booths. This fundraiser can net us $3,000 if we cover all the shifts that are assigned to us. We need everyone to help participate in this event and spouses and friends are welcome to work. We will be passing out a sign-up sheet to measure the interest everyone has in participating. The Sangamon County Fair runs from June 17-21. Limey Nargelenas is still passing out Sight and Sound books if you haven’t received yours yet. Tail Twister was Jim Grohne who fined Craig Drone, Dr. Dave Milner, Limey Nargelenas, Jerry Gardner, Chris Walcher and Steve Frankenstein. Lion of the Day was Larry Werline who introduced our speaker Justin Blandford. Justin works for the Illinois Historic Preservation
Agency and is superintendent of state historic sites in Springfield. Justin spoke to us about his job and the interest that has been shown in all the Springfield historic sites. The 50/50 was won by Limey Nargelenas again. I think he might be somehow related to the Maxey’s!
February 24, 2015 Meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 19 members and no guests present. President Chris Walcher presided over the meeting. Larry Werline passed around the sign-up sheet for the workers for the Sangamon County Fair. Please contact Larry as to your availability to work if you can not make the meetings. President Walcher stated that there is a shred event sponsored by Local First on April 18th. Dan Yuhas is again running a pool to see who can guess when the snow melts off the White Oaks parking lot. The cost is $5 to enter and 50% of the proceeds will go to Camp Lions. Tail Twister Mark Cullen fined Dan Yuhas, Ron Wenger, Mike Fishel, and Dr. Paul Anthony. Lion of the Day was Larry Werline who introduced our speaker Lion Steve Frankenstein. Steve talked to us about Camp Lions and explained how it works for Illinois. The 50/50 was won by Jerry Curry.
