August 19 meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 30 members and five guests. The guests were Dale Diamond & Larry Bunting’s grandson Matt, Dave Moreland’s wife Mary, Limey Nargelenas’s grandson Gavin Martin, Mitch Murdock’s granddaughter Sydney and Evelyn Thomas’s friend Linda. President Walcher welcomed back Dave Moreland and Josh Langfelder. Lion Dr. Paul Anthony announced that we are having the officers and directors meeting on August 28th at Hi-Vee at 11:30. Tail Twister James Grohne fined Josh Langfelder, Mitch Murdock, Bob Urbance and Steve Frankenstein. Phil Brooks bought time and announced that he recently had his first hole-in-one. Congrats Phil !! Lion of the Day was Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker Chris Walcher. Chris showed slides of various animals he encountered during his 10 day African vacation. The 50/50 was won by Thomas Gallagher.
August 26 meeting
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 22 members and 1 guest attending. The guest was Ray Kopeck who was brought by Dr. Paul Anthony. President Chris Walcher and Vice President Limey Nargelenas were absent and 2nd Vice President Larry Bunting chaired the meeting. Bill Maxey presented the club with an award for the 2nd most money donated to the Illinois Foundation for Candy Day 2013. Bill also stated that he would be passing around a sign-up sheet next week for Candy Day this year which will be on October 3rd & 4th. Tail Twister James Grohne fined himself $20 and was kind to the attending Lions. Larry Bunting was Lion of the Day and he presented our speaker Jim Birge. Jim is the manager of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau. Jim spoke about the history of Farm Bureau and what they currently do for the farm community. The 50/50 was won by Dr. Paul Anthony.
