May 6, 2014

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 26 members and no guests attending. Dale Diamond announced the May winners of the calendar raffle.  The big $100 winner this month was Tom Hale.  Sight & Sound Chairman Chris Walcher announced that the club has sold all of the Sight & Sound tickets this year.  John Albers stated that the last day to purchase rain barrels is Thursday May 8.  Tail Twister Dean Paisley fined Bill Maxey, Phil Brooks, and Ron Wenger.  District Governor Steve Frankenstein swore in 4 new members to our club.  The new members are Robin Benson, Rita Werline, Mickey McDaniel, and David Painter.  Each new member game a brief history of who they are and what they do
for a living. The 50/50 was won by Bob Maxey.
 

                                      May 13, 2014

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 23 members and no guests.  President Brooks welcomed back Cal Tabit.  Larry Werline is taking orders for new yellow or purple Lions short sleeve shirts if anyone is interested.  Steve Frankenstein informed the club that the officer & director nominating committee will meet on May 13 to nominate people for the next year.  John Albers announced that the club sold 18 rain barrels this year.  John Albers also announced the scholarship committee has selected Emily Evans and Hannah Norris as recipients of our scholarships this year.  Nobody was fined by the Tail Twister due to his absence.  Bill Maxey paid for time to announce that his daughter Emily has recently received her masters from WIU.  Our speaker today was Governor Steve Frankenstein.  Steve talked about the pending merger of Districts 1L and 1E. The new district will be called District 1I. The 50/50 was won by Rita Werline.

 

                                     May 20, 2014                                     

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 27 members and one guest attending.  The guest was Anna Curry celebrating her 8th grade graduation.  Phil Brooks presented Steve Frankenstein with a new membership pin.  Phil announced the installation of officers and directors will be held at the Island Bay Yacht Club on June 24th.  Steve Frankenstein reported that the state convention was well attended and the merger of District 1L & 1E was approved.  Phil Brooks is selling raffle tickets for the Mary Bryant Educational Wing construction.  Tail Twister Dean Paisley fined Joe Brockamp & Ron Wenger.  Lion of the Day was Steve Frankenstein who introduced our speaker Dave Painter.  Dave, who owns his own landscaping company, talked about landscaping and tree preservation.  The 50/50 was won by Larry Bunting.  The following are the officers and directors that are being nominated for the 2014 year:

May 20, 2014 

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 29 members and one guest.  The guest was Jerry Curry’s daughter Anna.  President Brooks announced that there would not be a noon meeting on June 17th due to the Golf Outing and June 24th due to the Installation Dinner that night.  Ken Parker gave us an update on the golf outing and states it is coming along nicely.  President Brooks also stated that there is going to be a silent and regular auction after the golf outing on packages that have been put together.  Tail Twister Dean Paisley fined Helen Hellner and Chris Walcher.  The speaker for today had to cancel and we decided to have a business meeting instead.  The 50/50 was won by Bill Maxey.
