The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 28 members and 2 guests in attendance. The guests were Charles Schiedel and Paul Povse. Dean paisley was welcomed back by President Frankenstein. President Frankenstein thanked Mitch Murdock and Helen Helner for their generous donations to the scholarship fund. Phil Brooks reported that he still has 40 Sight & Sound books available for members to sell. John Albers then presented a new fundraising opportunity for the club. The club will be selling rain barrels at $70.00 each for the plastic $170 for the oak barrels. The Tail Twister fined Dean Paisley and Dan Yuhas. The Lion of the Day was Dan Yuhas who introduced our speaker. The speaker was Dave Leonatti who spoke to us about the building of the new Matheny Withrow elementary school. Gail Day won the 50/50. The Lions Club calendar raffle was drawn for March and the big winner was the Mary Bryant Home.

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 21 members and no guest in attendance. John Albers informed the club that the Hoogland Center has allowed us to set up a rain barrel display in their lobby. John Albers also announced that he received 10 applications from high schools seniors and three applications from college students from the Lions scholarships.  It was mentioned that the Springfield Art Fair will be held May 17, 18 & 19 and we once again will be looking for volunteers to man our food tent. Tail Twister Curt Fischer once again was in fine form and fined Ed Cunningham (2), Tom Gallagher, Joe Brockamp, Ken Parker & John Albers. The speaker for todays’ meeting was our very own Steve Frankenstein. Steve spoke and illustrated (hand gestures) various topics from the District Convention. Steve spoke about the redistricting of Lions Clubs in the State of Illinois. The 50/50 was won by Ron Wenger.

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 21 members and 2 guests in attendance. The guests were Charles Schiedel and Dave Leonatti. The club is selling rain barrels at $70.00 each for the plastic barrels and $170 for the oak barrels. Chris Walcher and Joe Gill are the participants in the membership challenge next month. Chris Walcher, the interim Tail Twister, fined Steve Frankenstein twice and Ken Parker won the coin flip pool. The Lion of the Day was Dan Yuhas who introduced our speaker. The speaker was Paul Povse former editor of the State Journal register. Paul talked about the newspaper industry and its future. The 50/50 drawing was won by Limey Nargelenas.

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 23 members and 1 guest in attendance. The guest was Kevin Elliott. President Steve Frankenstein welcomed back Evelyn Thomas who has been wintering in sunny Florida. John Albers informed the club that he will be at Earth Day on April 27th to promote the sale of the rain barrels and has two helpers. Tail Twister Curt Fischer fined Jerry Curry (2), Steve Frankenstein, Ken Tupy and Ron Wenger. The Lion of the Day was Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker Kevin Elliott. Kevin spoke to us about Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The 50/50 was won by Steve Frankenstein.
 

April 30, 2013

 

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 24 members and no guest in attendance. Phil Brooks stated that the sale of the Sight & Sound tickets are going well. John Albers stated he sold 7 rain barrels at Earth Day and has a lot of internet interest in them also. Orders for rain barrels can be taken through May 10. John Albers also reported that the Scholarship Committee has several good candidates for our 2013 scholarships. We are asking for volunteers to sign up for the Art Fair tent the weekend of May 17-19. Chris Walcher once again stood in as Tail Twister and fined Ron Wenger, Steve Frankenstein & Dave Moreland. Lion of the Day was Dan Yuhas who introduced our speaker. Our speaker was Nancy Hundley who is the Director of the Lincoln Library. Nancy talked about the Lincoln Library and what it offers the residents of Springfield. The 50/50 was won by Jerry Gardner.
