                                      February 5, 2013
 
The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 21 members with 1 guest in attendance. The guest was Barry Shellenger who is a member of the Galesburg Lions Club. President Steve Frankenstein welcomed back Rachel Schroeder and was informed that Rachel will get her new guide dog later this month. Ron Wenger reported that Gary Rapaport won the 1st and 2nd quarter football pool with Mike Fishel winning the 3rd quarter and Dr. Paul Anthony winning the 4th quarter. It was reported by Ken Parker that it’s never to early to reserve your foursome for the June 18th Lions Golf Outing. Mitch Murdock reported that the eye bus will be at the Senior Expo at the Orr Building at the State Fair grounds on May 15, 2013 from 9:00-2:00. Dale Diamond drew the raffle numbers for the Lions Calendar Raffle and there were 29 winners. The big winner was Derrick Mooney. Tail Twister Curt Fischer was downright ornery and fined almost everyone including himself. Jerry Curry was the Lion of the Day and introduced our speaker Kate Darneille. Kate is with the American Diabetes association. She talked about the start of the association and what it does for the community and the country. The 50/50 was won by Mitch Murdock.

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 23 members and 1 guest in attendance.  The guest was Craig Drone who is applying to become a new member. President Steve Frankenstein welcomed back Jack Schoonover. The Springfield Noon Lions Club would like to send their condolences to Brian & Lizabeth Hoffman on the recent passing of their son Evan Fredric. It was noted that Dale Diamond sold the most Lions Calendars with Dr. Swing in second and Kevin Pippen a close third. Chris Walcher was acting Tail Twister and fined Steve Frankenstein, Dan Yuhas, Joe Brokamp & Dave Rolf. Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who introduced our speaker Dan O’Brien. Dan is the Scout Executive of the Abraham Lincoln Council Boy Scouts of America. Dan discussed recent events in the Boy Scouts and talked about all the different camps and programs offered to our boys. Mike Fishel won the 50/50 drawing.

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 25 members with no guest in attendance.  Steve Frankenstein reported that The Sentinel Chili Cook Off is set for 2-21-13. It was also brought to everyone’s attention that the Hearing & Vision buses will be at the Senior Celebration on May 15th. The Tail Twister fined President Steve Frankenstein (Easy Target), Craig Drone, Tom Gallagher, Dave Milner & Jerry Curry. Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who introduced the speaker. The speaker was Dave Blanchette who is the Director of the Abe Lincoln Museum & Library. The speaker talked about the museum and noted that the museum costs $165,000,000 to build .The 50/50 was won by Mitch Murdock.

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 25 members and 1 guest in attendance.  The guest was Emily Evans. President Steve Frankenstein stated the Sentinel Chili Cook Off went well. Lion Dr. Dave Milner informed the club that he is going to walk the 2168 mile Appalachian Trail which will take him 4-6 months. Phil Brooks is the Sight & Sound Ticket Chairman again this year and would like everyone to sell three books at $10 each. Tail Twister Curt Fischer fined Ron Wenger, Phil Brooks, Dave Milner, Steve Frankenstein, Dan Yuhas & Jerry Curry. Lion of the Day was Jerry Curry who has done a very good job in getting speakers for the month of February. Jerry introduced our speaker Kevin Seals who is the Chief Environmental Scientist for Hanson Engineering. He spoke about the High Speed Rail study for Springfield that his firm conducted. The 50/50 was won by Jim Grohne.
