October 23, 2012

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 27 membersand 1 guest in attendance. Our guest for the day was Jeanette Stratton. It wasnoted in the sickness report that Lioness Jami Leslie has a broken bone in herfoot and has somewhat slowed down. It was also noted that we will be getting anew member to join our club Joe Gill. Dale Diamond reported that Candy Day wasa success but we may look to change what we do next year. Phil Brooks reportedthat the Mary Bryant Chili Dinner was well attended and they served 1400dinners throughout the day. Dale Diamond then reported that the calendar salesare coming along and we have sold 300 calendars so far. The tail twister thenfines Steve Frankenstein (easy mark) and Dan Yuhas twice. Lion of the Day wasSteve Frankenstein gave a glowing introduction for our speaker Dan Yuhas. DanYuhas talked about Christmas hats and the fun in making and wearing them. Hehas challenged us to make a Christmas hat with whatever theme you want and wearit to the Christmas Party. The 50/50 was won by Jim Grohne.

The meeting was held at the Golden Corral with 24 membersand 2 guests in attendance. The guests were Jeanette Stratton & DelmarBuske. President Frankenstein statedthat he was upset they named a huge storm after him. Dale Diamond discussedcalendar sales and he stated that we are continuing to sell calendars at asteady pace. Anyone who has extra calendars can get them to Dale to give toothers who are looking to sell more. Dale also stated that Candy Day went wellwith a limited number of donation sites and we collected around $4,200. DanYuhas then talked about his Christmas Hat Competition. He challenged everyonewho is planning on attending the Lions Christmas Party to get a hat from him todecorate in a Christmas theme. Dan is funding the hat cost and only requestingwe donate $5 to the Camp Lions Fund. Dale Diamond then stated the Lions Club/ RedCross bowling fundraiser will be held 12-7-12 and the cost is $25 per person.He encourages everyone to get a foursome together for this fun event. EvelynThomas notified the club that the Lions Swag that she sponsors and helps designwill be at the Festival of Trees. Dan Yuhas served as interim Tail Twister andfined no one but did challenge President Frankenstein to learn how to juggle bynext week. Lion of the Day was Steve Frankenstein and he introduced our speakerJim Weiss. Jim spoke on Lionism and the Lions of Illinois Foundation. Jim alsothanked Lion Limey Nargelenas for his sponsoring on another Camp Lion childnext year. The 50/50 drawing was won by Dale Diamond.
