The meeting was held at The Golden Corral and there were 22 members and two guests attending. The guests were Mrs. Jeanette Stratton and Tommy Curry. Curt Fischer informed the club that his wife is now home from the hospital but has a long rehab in front of her. Phil Brooks then updated the club on Lance Brooks (Nephew) who went to the Olympics in the discus. Lance finished 21st out of 40 participants and we want to congratulate him on his great accomplishment. James Hockenyos then updated us on The Howgill Family Center-Boys Group. The Lions hosted them last Friday night for dinner at Fulgenzi’s and Saturday at Knights Action Park. This group of underprivileged boys from Cumbria, England are traveling Route 66 all the way to the West coast. Tail Twister Curt Fischer then fined Dan Yuhas, James Hockenyos, Jerry Curry, Phil Brooks and David Moreland. Lion Mitch Murdock bought time to tell us about his brother Everrett who won the 2000 meter steeplechase at the National Masters Championship in his age group and got 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles. He also has written a book on the history of the Electoral College. The Lion of the day was Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker Autumn Rain. Autumn Rain is a recipient of a dog from Pilot Dogs from Ohio. Her leader dog is named Cooper and is a poodle. Autumn told us about the Pilot Dog Program and her training.

The meeting was held at The Golden Corral and there were 19 members and 1 guest in attendance. The guest was Delmar Buske who Limey brought to the meeting. Vice-President Phil Brooks served as President in the absence of James Hockenyos. Phil welcomed back Brian Hoffman. Dale Diamond stated that the Lions calendars should be printed and ready to sell by September 1. This will be one of our major fundraisers and hopefully we can sell these. We are asking members to sell 20 each at $20.00 each. These calendars are sort of a type of lottery where people can win money each day besides having a calendar. Dale also stated that the bowling fundraiser will be held December 7 at Laketown Lanes. Tail Twister Curt Fischer fined Mike Fishel, Dale Diamond & Phil Brooks. Limey Nargelenas was Lion of the Day and introduced our two speakers from the American Legion Auxiliary. Our speakers were Luella Buske who talked about Operation Pillowcase and Tonya Goldasich who talked about Adopt-A-Family. Dale Diamond won the 50-50 drawing.

The weekly meeting was heldat the Golden Corral at 12:00. There were 29 members and no guest inattendance. President Steve Frankenstein presided over the meeting and broughtto our attention that Jerry Gardner’s mother passed away 8-19-12. We all wantto send our sincere condolences to the Gardner Family. It was brought to ourattention that our first PancakeBreakfast is scheduled for November 4th at the Knights ofColumbus Hall on Iles and Meadowbrook. It was noted by President Frankensteinthat Justin Allgaier’s car sponsored by Brandt won this week’s Nationwide race.Tail Twister Curt Fischer then fined Evelyn Thomas, Chris Walcher, MitchMurdock, Phil Brooks & Mark Cullen. Lion of the Day was Mitch Murdock whointroduced our speaker Senator Larry Bomke. Senator Bomke spoke about his timeas Senator and the Governors he met during his tenure as Senator. Lion TomGallagher was the winner of the 50/50 drawing.

The weekly meeting of the Springfield Noon Lions Club washeld at 12:00 at the Golden Corral Restaurant. President Steve Frankensteinpresided over the meeting with 28 members and one guest in attendance. JeanetteStratton was our guest for the day. President Frankenstein welcomed back KenParker who has been away due to illness. Tail Twister fined Dr. Dave Milner, Bob Urbance, James Hockenyos andSteve Frankenstein. It was noted that James Hockenyos & Jerry Curry will becooking at a fundraiser for Children with Dyslexia on October 7 at Southwinds Park from 1:00 to 4:00. Lion of the Daywas Limey Nargelenas who introduced our speaker John Kennedy. John Kennedy isthe Executive Director of the Association of Chiefs of Police. The 50/50drawing was won by Bob Urbance.
